The Boulevard Neighborhood Association is now looking for nominees to join our Steering Committee. The committee meets throughout the year (typically, quarterly) and is responsible for planning at least two neighborhood events a year in addition to addressing any issues or questions that arise concerning the neighborhood.
This is a great way to get to know your neighbors and your neighborhood, or just get more involved in the community. If you're interested or would like more information, please contact our nominating committee chair, Jell Kilpatrick, for details. The "soft opening" of Phase 2 at Boulevard Woods Park took place last April, with a few small finishing touches wrapped up while the park was open and in use. The new slide, climbing dome and natural play areas and trail look great!
Several people have asked if there is a Phase 3 planned for the park, and there is—although the details are still being ironed out. Plans have begun for native plantings and landscaping to be added in the wooded section of the park, but the Boulevard Steering Committee's parks subcommittee is still ironing out the details with Athens-Clarke County's Leisure Services on the timing. Plans are in the works for an official opening party that can also double as a work day at the park. We're waiting for the weather to cool down a bit before we announce a date, so stay tuned! Members of the Boulevard Neighborhood Association are invited to represent the neighborhood in the upcoming Bou-le-Bark Parade. It takes place at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, and there is a need for a small group of residents to walk behind a banner (between groups of dogs). Banners will be provided, and you may walk with or without your dog.
We have many members of the Steering Committee who are volunteering at the parade, and they can't walk to represent the neighborhood—come help us represent! Email Deb Stanley for more details or to take part! IS YOUR PET A PIN-UP? Want to show off your cat(s), dog(s), and/or some other pet(s) in a colorful calendar?
